About the Education Department

The Museum's Education Department welcomes thousands of students each year and has developed an exciting and interactive programme for schools, colleges and universities. You can choose from a range of sessions and themed tours delivered by our Education Team, whose expertise ensures a unique and engaging learning experience for every student.  

The Education Department has a wealth of experience of working with EFL groups. All our tours are in English and are designed to be entertaining and enlightening for all.

 Educational Tour

  • £70 + £2 per student + VAT
  • Max: 35 pupils per tour
  • Up to 90 minutes

From humble beginnings to the world’s most coveted title in tennis, let our Education Team guide you through the stories that make a visit to Wimbledon such an unforgettable experience. The tour explores the story behind the first Championships, and visits No.1 Court, the Picnic Terraces (the famous hill!),  the Millennium Building including the press areas and the iconic Centre Court.*

Primary

The Primary Education Programme is both fun and inspiring. All activities are linked to the National Curriculum and cover a range of subjects. Teachers can choose from workshops and/or guided tours of the grounds. All visits include entrance to the Museum.

Secondary and Further Education

Our Secondary and Further Education Programme is flexible in order to meet the needs of all groups. The individual packages can be adapted from an introductory talk to a more detailed analysis of each subject; lecturers can tailor their visits in advance. All talks are interactive, with open discussion encouraged.

Higher Education

We offer bespoke packages for Higher Education groups varying from tailored tours to more formal lecture based packages: 

Business of Wimbledon
Guided tour of the grounds, talk and Museum package
£140 + £2 per student + VAT
Max: 25 students
Approx. 3 hours without breaks

Community project

Quite Revealing is the third annual community project hosted by the Education Department, following on from the successful 125 rackets for Wimbledon event in 2011 and the Behind the Scenes project in 2012.

Visits can be made Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm up until the May half-term. It is advisable to book early to avoid disappointment. The number of students we can accommodate in a day will vary depending on the activities booked.

Additional information

  • All tours and workshops include a complimentary, self-guided, visit to the Museum. Trails are available on request.
  • When we have confirmed your booking you will be invoiced for a non-refundable deposit of £70 + VAT used to secure the date of your visit. We require final visitor numbers two weeks prior to your visit; you will then be sent a final invoice.
  • FREE familiarisation visit to the Museum for one teacher
  • FREE Minibus/Car parking
  • FREE adult 1:5 primary children and 1:10 for secondary
  • Indoor packed lunch room/outdoor eating area
  • On site First Aid
  • Secure storage for belongings
